Three small brands, three weather stations without Wi-Fi: the Fokey Z2, the Brataste 7.5-inch station and the AIRAIN TECH dual display set (A8D-1). They sit side by side in Amazon search results, but they solve different problems. The Fokey puts a screen on every sensor, the Brataste keeps it simple with alarms and a USB charging port, and the AIRAIN TECH is the only one of the three that measures wind and rain, with two indoor displays. Here is how they compare, and what each listing leaves out.

Short answer: pick the AIRAIN TECH dual display if you want wind and rain, or a second screen in another room. Pick the Fokey Z2 if you want to read temperature and humidity in several places, because each sensor has its own 2-inch screen. Pick the Brataste if you want a plain white indoor/outdoor display with an atomic clock, two alarms and a USB port to charge your phone. None of the three has Wi-Fi.

Fokey Z2: For Multiple Sensor Locations

The Fokey Z2 fits when you want readings from more than one place, such as outside, a greenhouse and a basement. Each Fokey sensor has its own 2-inch screen, so you can read it where it hangs. It also lets you switch between absolute and relative pressure. Plan a sheltered spot: Fokey advises mounting the Z2 sensor under an eave, out of sun and rain. More in our Fokey weather station overview and Fokey setup and fixes.

Brataste: The Simple One

The Brataste keeps to the basics: indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, a forecast from the pressure trend, moon phase and an atomic clock that follows daylight saving time. Two alarms and a USB port make it a good nightstand clock. Its listing is the most open about screen troubles (Night Mode, the dim screen during the clock search, cycle mode), but the least open about range and batteries. More in our Brataste weather station overview.

AIRAIN TECH Dual Display: Wind, Rain and Two Screens

The AIRAIN TECH set is the only full weather station of the three: its outdoor sensor measures wind speed and direction and rainfall, next to temperature and humidity, and it comes with two displays. Check one thing before buying: the box holds one power adapter for the two screens, and the listing does not say how the second screen is powered. The listing also does not confirm whether extra sensors can be added. More in our AIRAIN TECH dual display overview.

What All Three Have in Common

  • No Wi-Fi, no app. The readings stay on the displays. If you want your phone or online history, see our best Wi-Fi weather stations.
  • An atomic clock. For the Fokey and the Brataste, the brands say to set your time zone first and to set the time by hand when the signal is weak. The AIRAIN TECH listing gives no clock details.
  • A forecast that needs time. Brataste and Fokey both say their stations need 7 to 10 days to calibrate. That is their claim, not a promise of an accurate forecast afterwards.
  • Placement matters more than the brand. A sensor in the sun reads too warm on any station. Shade, airflow and the right height count; see our installation guide.
