Black Friday is the one day of the year when a weather station can look like a bargain and still be the wrong buy. A crossed-out price is a bit like a forecast from a stranger: nice to hear, but worth a second look. So let's look together. This page shows which stations are worth your money, what to check before you click "buy", and how to spot a deal that only looks sunny.

Short answer: Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday on November 30. Our Black Friday shortlist is the AcuRite Iris 5-in-1 (a simple complete station), the Ambient Weather WS-2902C (a strong value pick), the WeatherFlow Tempest (app-first, no moving parts), the Ambient Weather WS-5000 (cold climates, fast wind data) and the Davis Vantage Vue (long-term use). None of them counts as a deal just because a "was" price is crossed out. We mark a deal as verified only when the price is below that model's own recent price history.

How to Tell if a Black Friday Weather Station Deal Is Actually Good

Most Black Friday offers look the same: a crossed-out price and a big percentage. But a crossed-out "was" price does not automatically tell you whether today's price is unusually low. Compare the current price with the product's recent price history instead. Here are the five checks we use, in order. They take about two minutes.

1. Compare with the station's own price history, not the "was" price

Look up the exact listing in a price tracker such as camelcamelcamel or Keepa and compare today's price with the last three months. A real deal is clearly below the price the station has actually sold for recently. If the price climbed in October and "drops" back in November, that is not a deal. That is a round trip.

2. Make sure it is the exact model and bundle you think it is

This is where most weather station "bargains" go wrong:

  • Davis Vantage Vue: the 6357 listing is the sensor suite only: the console is not included, the mounting pole is sold separately, and Wi-Fi needs a separate WeatherLink Live (Davis Vantage Vue). A low price on the 6357 is not comparable to the price of a complete Vantage Vue kit.
  • WeatherFlow Tempest: the Tempest '26, announced in November 2025, has bigger solar panels, a redesigned charging system, upgraded temperature, humidity and rain sensors, and a battery you can replace (Tempest announcement). A discounted original Tempest can still be a fair buy, since WeatherFlow keeps updating the software for both; just compare its price with the '26 and know you get the older sensors.
  • Ambient Weather: the WS-2902 family has several letter versions and bundles (for example with a lightning sensor). Compare the full model number, not just "WS-2902".
  • AcuRite Iris: sold with different displays and bundles. Check that the bundle includes the display and the Wi-Fi connection you want.

3. Add up the total cost, not just the station

Some stations arrive needing a few friends before they can do their job. A cheaper station that needs two add-ons can end up costing more than a pricier one that works straight out of the box.

StationWhat you may still need
Davis Vantage Vue (6357)A console, WeatherLink Live for Wi-Fi and app access, and a mounting pole (not included)
Ambient WS-2902CBackup batteries (not included) and an AC outlet near the console: Wi-Fi does not work on battery power alone
AcuRite Iris 5-in-1AcuRite Iris 5-in-1Lithium AA batteries for cold winters; the Iris PRO+ sensor upgrade if you live in a hot, sunny climate and want accurate daytime temperatures
Ambient WS-5000Two mounting spots (wind sensor high, rain gauge lower); optional add-on sensors cost extra
WeatherFlow TempestWeatherFlow TempestA pole or mount; a manual rain gauge if you need exact rainfall totals

4. Read the return terms for sale items before you pay

Return rules can be different during a sale. WeatherFlow's published sales and refund terms describe a 60-day money-back guarantee for non-sale products, so check what applies to a discounted Tempest bought directly. The Tempest's separate Better Forecast Guarantee runs for 8 months after purchase and requires at least 5 months of continuous data. Ambient Weather's warranty page lists a one-year warranty and a 30-day satisfaction return "to your place of purchase", so the seller you bought from handles that return. On Amazon, the holiday return window for 2025 covered most items bought between November 1 and December 31, returnable until January 31, 2026 (Amazon). Check whether the same window applies in 2026 and whether the item is sold by Amazon or a third-party seller.

5. A small discount on the right station beats a big discount on the wrong one

A 40% discount on a station without a rain gauge is no use to a gardener who wants rainfall totals. That is a bargain umbrella with a hole in it. A 10% discount on the station that measures what you need is the better buy. So decide what you need first (next section), and only then look at prices.

Don't Let the Discount Choose Your Weather Station

Answer these questions before you compare offers. They narrow the shortlist faster than any percentage, and they save you a trip back to the post office with a return label.

QuestionWhy it matters
Which measurements do you need: wind, rain, UV, solar, lightning?Budget stations often skip rain or wind direction. The Tempest has lightning built in; the WS-2902C has a dedicated UV sensor; the Iris and Vantage Vue have neither UV nor lightning.
Do you want a screen on the wall, or is a phone app enough? The Tempest has no display at all. The WS-2902C, WS-5000 and Iris come with a console; the Davis 6357 needs one bought separately.
Is your Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, and is there an outlet where the console goes? The WS-2902C and Iris connect on 2.4 GHz only, and the WS-2902C console needs AC power for Wi-Fi.
Do freezing rain and ice storms happen where you live?Mechanical cups (WS-2902C, Iris, Vantage Vue) can ice up; the ultrasonic WS-5000 and Tempest have no moving parts.
Do you need exact rainfall totals?Owners report the Tempest's haptic rain sensor under-reads in heavy rain. Tipping-bucket gauges (WS-2902C, WS-5000, Vantage Vue, Iris) are the safer choice for garden or flood records.
Where will you mount it?The WS-5000 works best with two mounting points. One-pole stations (Iris, WS-2902C, Tempest) suit small gardens.
Do you want to add sensors later? The WS-5000 and WS-2902C accept extra temperature, humidity and air quality sensors. The Tempest is a closed all-in-one system.
Is there a subscription?According to the brands, none of the five stations on this page needs a paid subscription for basic use; some offer optional paid extras.

Weather Station Deals by Budget

Typical price ranges; prices move during sales.

Our Black Friday Weather Station Shortlist

From entry level to premium. Each card links to the full review, where you will find the sources behind every point (and a lot more detail than you need on a Friday morning).

Strong fit for first-time buyers

AcuRite Iris 5-in-1

Worth checking Black Friday price not checked yet

Why it is on the list: temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction and rain from one outdoor sensor, a colour display and Wi-Fi to the My AcuRite app and Weather Underground. Its Self-Calibrating Forecast learns your local pressure patterns over about two weeks.

Research basis: our AcuRite Iris review, AcuRite's official documentation and owner reports.

Good fit if

  • You want a complete first station with a one-pole install
  • You garden and need rain and frost data
  • A local forecast on the display matters to you

Skip it if

  • You want UV or solar radiation (no sensor for either)
  • Your router only offers 5 GHz Wi-Fi
  • You want Alexa or Google Home integration

Black Friday check: confirm the bundle includes the display you want. In hot, sunny locations, consider the PRO+ sensor upgrade if daytime temperature accuracy is important.

Strong value pick

Ambient Weather WS-2902C

Worth checking Black Friday price not checked yet

Why it is on the list: wind, rain, temperature, humidity, a dedicated UV sensor and solar radiation in one array, plus direct uploads to Weather Underground and AmbientWeather.net without a hub. It packs a broad set of measurements and connectivity features into a relatively accessible price category.

Research basis: our WS-2902C review, Ambient Weather's product page, manual and FAQ, and owner reports.

Good fit if

  • You want the most data for the money
  • You share data on Weather Underground
  • You may add indoor or air quality sensors later

Skip it if

  • There is no outlet near the console (Wi-Fi needs AC power)
  • You need fast gust data (updates every 16 seconds)
  • You often get ice storms (mechanical cups can freeze)

Black Friday check: compare the full model number and bundle. In 2024, Ambient Weather ran 20% off on its best-selling stations from November 11 on its own website, so compare the Amazon price with the direct price too (see Amazon or direct).

Strong fit for smart homes

WeatherFlow Tempest

Worth checking Black Friday price not checked yet

Why it is on the list: one solar-powered unit with no moving parts, ultrasonic wind, built-in lightning detection, 3-second updates and a machine-learning local forecast, with an open API and no subscription.

Research basis: our Tempest review, WeatherFlow's documentation and Tempest '26 announcement, and the Tempest owner community.

Good fit if

  • You live in your phone app or Home Assistant
  • You want low maintenance: nothing to clog or spin
  • Lightning alerts matter to you

Skip it if

  • You want a display on the wall (there is none)
  • You need exact rainfall totals
  • You want to add extra sensors later

Black Friday check: know whether the offer is for the Tempest '26 or the original model, and read the return terms for sale items before you buy direct. The forecast guarantee needs at least 5 months of data, so a station bought in November can qualify by spring.

Strong fit for cold climates

Ambient Weather WS-5000

Worth checking Black Friday price not checked yet

Why it is on the list: an ultrasonic wind sensor with no moving parts, updates every 4.9 seconds, a separate rain gauge you can place on its own, and a console that shows add-on sensors such as lightning, soil moisture and air quality.

Research basis: our WS-5000 review, the WS-5000 user manual and product page, and owner reports.

Good fit if

  • Freezing rain or snow is normal where you live
  • You watch gusts during storms
  • You want to build out a sensor system over time

Skip it if

  • You have only one mounting point
  • You live where it rarely freezes: the WS-2902C covers most of the same data for less
  • You do not plan to use the extra sensors

Black Friday check: the WS-5000 was part of Ambient Weather's 2024 direct-store sale. If you plan add-on sensors, price the station plus sensors together, both on Amazon and direct.

Strong fit for long-term use

Davis Vantage Vue

Worth checking Black Friday price not checked yet

Why it is on the list: a long-established station that reviewers often use as a reference point, with a tipping-bucket rain gauge, 2.5-second updates, a wind range to 180 mph per Davis, and long service records reported by owners and long-term reviewers.

Research basis: our Davis Vantage Vue review, Davis Instruments' product information and published long-term reviews.

Good fit if

  • You want a station for the next decade, not the next season
  • You want to contribute weather observations to community networks
  • Rain accuracy matters more than smart home features

Skip it if

  • You want built-in Wi-Fi and an app out of the box
  • You want lightning detection
  • You want Alexa or Google Home

Black Friday check: the button below goes to the 6357 sensor suite, which has no console. Add the console and WeatherLink Live to the price before comparing it with complete stations, or look for a complete kit.

Amazon or Direct From the Brand?

Both can be the better place to buy, depending on the brand and the year. What we know from published sources:

  • Ambient Weather announced its 2024 Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale on November 11, 2024: 20% off its best-selling stations, including the WS-2902, WS-2000 and WS-5000, on its own store (Ambient Weather blog). That shows direct sales can start weeks before Black Friday; it does not tell us what 2026 will bring.
  • WeatherFlow sells the Tempest on its own shop and on Amazon. Sale purchases can fall under different return terms (see above).
  • Davis sells through dealers and retailers, so prices and bundles differ more between sellers.

Whichever you choose, compare three things side by side: the price for the same bundle, the return window, and who handles the warranty.

Black Friday or Cyber Monday: What to Buy Now and What Can Wait

SituationOur advice
You want it installed before the ground freezes or snow arrivesBuy when you find a fair price. Setting a pole in frozen ground or working on an icy roof is much harder, and a few extra dollars of discount rarely make up for that.
You are buying a Tempest for its local forecastEarlier is better: the forecast improves over weeks, and the guarantee needs months of data.
It is a giftCheck the holiday return window of the seller before you buy, and whether the recipient's Wi-Fi supports 2.4 GHz.
The price is not below its recent historyWait. Prices often move between Black Friday (November 27) and Cyber Monday (November 30).
You plan add-on sensorsWait for a price on the full set you need, not only the base station.

What to Skip

  • Stations that miss a measurement you need, however cheap. Adding a rain gauge or wind sensor later can cost more than buying the right station.
  • "7-in-1" bundles from brands with no support history, unless you have checked that replacement sensors are sold, the app is still updated, and the seller accepts returns. Low prices on unknown brands are common in Google Shopping results for Black Friday weather stations.
  • "Deals" you can only compare against a list price. If you cannot find what the station sold for last month, you cannot know if this is a deal.
  • Countdown pressure. Weather stations go on sale several times a year. Like the weather itself, another chance always comes around. Missing one offer is never a reason to buy the wrong station.

Black Friday Weather Station FAQ

When is Black Friday 2026?

Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving (November 26). Cyber Monday is on November 30, 2026. Some brands start their sales earlier: Ambient Weather started its 2024 sale on November 11.

Do weather stations go on sale for Black Friday?

Often, yes. Ambient Weather, for example, offered 20% off its best-selling stations in its own store for Black Friday 2024. Offers differ by brand, seller and year, so check the current price and price history rather than expecting a fixed discount.

Are Black Friday weather station deals actually cheaper?

Not always. A crossed-out "was" price is set by the seller. Compare the offer with what the same listing sold for over the past few months in a price tracker such as camelcamelcamel or Keepa. A price below that recent history is much stronger evidence that you are getting a genuine discount.

Should I buy on Black Friday or wait for Cyber Monday?

Buy on Black Friday if the price is below the station's recent price history or you want it installed before winter. Wait until Cyber Monday (November 30, 2026) if the price is not yet lower than its history and you can live with a few extra days.

How can I check the price history of a weather station?

For Amazon listings, use a price tracker such as camelcamelcamel or Keepa: search for the exact product or paste the listing link, and look at the price over the last three months. For other stores, compare with the price you noted a few weeks earlier.

Is Amazon or the manufacturer better for Black Friday?

It depends on the brand and year. Compare the same bundle on both, then compare return windows and warranty handling. Some brands run their own store sales that start weeks before Black Friday, while Amazon offers an extended holiday return window on most items.

What should I check before buying a discounted weather station?

The exact model number and what is in the box, the measurements you need, Wi-Fi band (many stations need 2.4 GHz), extra parts such as a console, pole or batteries, the return terms for sale items, and who the seller is.

Are older weather station models worth buying on Black Friday?

They can be, if the brand still supports the app and sells parts, and the price gap is big enough. The original Tempest, for example, still gets software and firmware updates, while the Tempest '26 adds upgraded temperature, humidity and rain sensors, bigger solar panels and a replaceable battery. Compare both prices before you choose.

Update Log

  • October 2, 2026: Page published. Shortlist and buying checks based on our existing reviews and published brand terms; Tempest '26, Davis 6357 and Ambient warranty details re-checked against the brands' own pages. Black Friday prices not yet checked.
  • Next update: early November 2026 (new offers and brand sales), then daily during Black Friday week, November 23 to 30, 2026.
